If our Sun were replaced by UY Scuti, the circumstellar habitable zone for an Earth-like planet would start at approximately 605 AU conservatively, and extends to 1183 AU. For comparison, the circumstellar habitable zone of the Sun is 0.95–1.6 AU[1] (see image below), while the Earth–Sun distance is 1 AU, the Mars–Sun distance is 1.53 AU, and the Venus–Sun distance 0.72 AU.The green zone is the habitable zone of the Sun, extending from 0.95 AU to 1.6 AU.The green zone is the habitable zone of the Sun.
Even Pluto is “only” 39.5 AU away from the Sun. In other words, the habitable zone of “Suny Scuti” would start at a distance almost 15.32 times further away than Pluto.The green zone is the habitable zone of UY Scuti, which spans from 605 AU to 1183 AU. Pluto is the dot close to UY Scuto, at 39.5 AU.Note however that the inner bound for the habitable zone depends on the mass of the planet as well; for a planet with 5 Earth masses the habitable zone starts at approximately 584 AU, while for a planet of 0.1 Earth masses the habitable zone would start at approximately 641.54 AU—7% closer or 10% further away from UY Scuti respectively.The innermost green zone starts at 584 AU, the middle green zone at 605 AU, and the outer green zone starts at 641.54 AU. The habitable zones extend to 1183 AU.
